Pasifika - Pacific Islander Parenting Project
Pasifika - A Pacific Islander Parenting Project that delivers a Playgroup and Parenting Program for Islander families which embraces the richness of culture and language. The Pasifika Parenting Program is based on International Best Practice, and has been designed and implemented with the Deception Bay people for this community. Local people have been trained as accredited trainers in effective parenting techniques and are committed to mentoring and teaching other local Islander parents. The mentors facilitate an enjoyable group for sharing parenting concerns with people who understand their experience as a culturally and linguistically diverse community member.
Pasifika Playgroup is a place where Pacific Islander children can interact in a culturally sensitive educational setting early in life; providing them with a stronger base for their education. Pasifika Playgroup has an intentional focus on culture and language to facilitate improved early educational outcomes for Islander children.
